February is Heart Healthy Month

Posted Date: 02/12/26 (04:11 PM)

February is Heart Health Month, a time to focus on building healthy habits that support a strong heart and a healthy future. Heart health is important for students and families alike, and small daily choices can make a big impact on overall wellness, energy, and learning.
Families can promote heart health by:
● Staying active together through walking, playing, or movement breaks
● Choosing heart-healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains
● Drinking plenty of water and limiting sugary drinks
● Getting enough sleep and managing stress in healthy ways
This month, Webster Parish elementary campuses will be kicking off the Kids Heart Challenge (KHC) from Monday, February 23, through Friday, March 6. Students and families should be on the lookout for information about joining your school’s team online.
Through the Kids Heart Challenge, students can earn prizes as they complete Finn’s Mission, where they will learn the valuable, life-saving skills of hands-only CPR and how to recognize the
warning signs of a stroke.
From the online dashboard, families will also have the optional opportunity to collect donations in support of the American Heart Association and their work to promote heart health and save
lives.
Thank you for partnering with us to help our students build healthy habits and learn skills that can make a difference in our community!
